Blanche McVeigh

(1895 - 1970)
Blanche McVeigh was born in Missouri and grew up in Ft. Worth, TX. Her art studies commenced in 1919 at Washington University in St. Louis followed by classes at the Art Students League in New York and summer sessions at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

She studied privately with New Mexico/Oklahoma artist Doel Reed, from whom she learned the complexities of the aquatint process. In 1931 McVeigh co-founded the Ft. Worth School of Fine Arts where she taught figure drawing and etching. She worked extensively as a commercial artist and illustrated numerous books, primarily dealing with New Mexico scenes and southern subjects.

McVeigh’s prints both utilize etching and color aquatint.
