The Moche culture from the North Coast of Peru produced some of the most splendid ceramics known in the ancient world , leaving examples that collectors and scholars refer to as the Grecian sculpture of the Americas. Among the most elegant classic Moche forms was the "florero", or flared conical vessel. These four examples are exceptional and rare for the fine line drawings decorating the interior of the vessels. The imagery on the inside of the vessels depicts warriors, victors as well as vanquished prisoners, in astonishing realism.
