The Virgin of the Rosary (Virgen del Rosario)
with Saints Dominic, Barbara and Gabried on the left and Saints Francis, Catherine of Alexandria and Michael on the right, as well as implied Trinty with music-playing angels)

A very fine devotional icon and rare combination of Tridentine themes. Because St. Dominic fostered praying to the Virgin Mary by use of a chaplet of beads, the painting logically was commissioned by the Dominican order. Because Virgin martyrs are portrayed, paragons of virtue for women to emulate, the work probably was distined for a Dominican convent located in the region of Lake Titicaca.
