Crowning of the Virgin with the Host

Framed: 72.5" x 61"
Painting, oil on canvas

A Carmelite commission, this work compares favorably the Berrio's Carmelite "Glorification of St. Joseph" in the Museo Charcas, Sucre, dated 1737 (particularly with respect to the Trinity). The four Evangelists (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) appear below the Virgin. This work depicts the Virgin Mary being crowned by the Holy Trinity, with St. Joseph and St. John the Baptist on either side.
