May also be referred to as an "Escutcheon" or an "escudo." It contains elaborate ornamentation around a pair of keys, what appears to be an archbishop's mitre, a crown and a symbol of perhaps a family name or Roman numerals. This escudo could have possibly been a wealthy family's crest or the seal of an ecclesiastical authority.
